Jess supports the rights of poor and working-class Portlanders to access housing, employment, transportation, health care and the ears of their government leaders to listen to their concerns.
Housing:
- Support housing-first projects in our city.
- Support affordable housing in Portland.
- Invest in breaking down barriers to creating affordable housing.
- Invest in social housing.
- Provide emergency rent assistance.

Climate:
- Support fossil fuel divestment efforts for net zero emissions by 2030.
- Support our local fishermen and prioritize safety by preparing for increased flooding.
- Create additional community gardens and food forests.
- Inventory and protect mature street trees.
Social Services:
- Work with the State Legislature to provide more funding for social services, including housing assistance along with mental and physical health care.
- Work with local organizations, social service providers and members of vulnerable communities to make sure we’re offering the best support.
- Work with local immigrant services and new Mainers to ensure best support for people seeking refuge.
- Support sober houses, recovery programs and harm reduction services.
Unions:
- Require the city to outsource work to local unions.
- Support local unionizing efforts.
- Support worker co-ops (worker-owned businesses).
Stronger Democracy:
- Improve accountability by transferring power from the unelected City Manager to elected officials.
- Prioritize making space to meet with unhoused folks on local issues and the people who care for them.
- Work to cut down barriers to accessing city council meeting for poor and working class people
